This is the job that brought me and my family to St. Helens.

Director, CASA of Columbia County, 1999-2000
This was a bridge job as I completed my Master of Arts in Teaching program and began my teaching public school teaching career. I worked with the Columbia County Commission on Children and Families to establish an independent Court Appointed Special Advocate program in Columbia County. Unfortunately, this independent program was not viable and it was dissolved. Fortunately, a CASA continues in Columbia County throught the auspices of another organization.

Teacher, Beaverton School District, 2000-2011
I taught one year as a English as Second Language specialist, five years as a 3rd grade teacher and five as a 5th grade teacher. Ten years were at Vose Elementary and one year at Findley Elementary.

Teacher, Hillsboro School District, 2013-2019
I taught kindergarten, 4th grade, a 4th/5th blend, and 5th grade at Minter Bridge Elementary. For five of those years I taught in  self-contained English/Spanish dual language classrooms. I taught half of the day in English and half of the day in Spanish to both native English and native Spanish speakers.

Subsitute Teacher, 2011-2013, 2019-Present
My substitute assignements included assignments in elementary, middle and high schools in St. Helens, Scappoose, Rainier, and Hillsboro. One long-term assignment was as coordinator of English as a Second Language Services for the Scappoose School District.
As of last September 30, 2020, I am working as a long-term substitute kindergarten teacher "at"       W. L. Henry Elementary school.

Here are four views of my kindergarten classroom at Minter Bridge Elementary in Hillsboro from the 2015/16 school year. Teaching kindergarten for the first time was the most transformational teaching experience I have ever had!:
